Newbie needs advice 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, I've been given a used MArine aquarium that I would like to use for freshwater tropical fish. It's a Betta Lifespace 90L model. I've cleaned it out throughly and I'm now in a position to start getting it up and running, trouble is, I'm not sure how to fill the 3 filter baskets located in the compartment built into the back. They stack vertically and the water looks like it flows from bottom to top. Any suggestions? All help appreciated.

after a little investigation it appears that this tank was designed to be a saltwater aquarium, since it has a built-in skimmer, which will be of no use to you with a freshwater setup. however, the media seeems to be contained in 3 separate baskets stacked on top of each other, chemical media on the bottom, such as carbon etc. then bio media next, like bio-balls, or whatever, then true filtration media on top such as filter floss, etc. Hop this helps, looks like a nice tank, just geared a litle more toward marine.
